Poem-A-Day Challenge: Day 1

April is National Poetry Month (yay!!) so I’m tackling the Writer’s Digest 2019 April PAD Challenge hosted by Robert Lee Brewer.

Today’s prompt: Write a morning poem.

Every night
as I sink towards sleep
I drowse to myself
tomorrow I’ll get up and run.
But tomorrow comes—
or in this case, today—
and instead there is the
morning slice of sun,
the splayed book, the
pre-son quiet

and I know
the pavement will be waiting
for another tomorrow.
